Summer 2022 Conference: Make It Matter

Our HPP conference is going virtual this year! The virtual conference will take place every Wednesday for three weeks and will give students and staff the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers and participate in workshops. This year’s conference is designed to develop leadership skills, personal growth, and chapter evolvement.

Dates:  June 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

About the Speakers

APS

Jason, APS

Jason, co-founder of Applied Performance Sciences (APS), is dedicated to expanding the capacity for performance in human beings at the individual and organizational levels. With a unique understanding of these factors, APS has developed methods applied to teams and individuals to maximize performance. APS was founded by U.S. Navy SEALs and developed in conjunction with Olympic and professional sport coaches. Veteran Navy SEALS deliver content and training that is applicable to any environment in which peak performance is desired.

Bailey Cullen

Bailey Cullen

Bailey is a recent graduate from the University of Notre Dame, with a background in psychology and a minor in digital marketing. During her freshman year on the women’s soccer team, Bailey was diagnosed with chronic exertional compartment syndrome, which would go on to require four surgeries, countless hours of physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Her sophomore year, Bailey founded Stronger Scars, a platform designed to give athletes a voice in telling their stories through injury. She’s now looking to turn Stronger Scars into a non-profit organization geared towards providing financial assistance for those struggling to afford medical treatment for sports-related injuries.

Bailey Jordan Jones

Bailey Jones is a registered dietitian and certified specialist in sports dietetics. Her mission is to empower athletes to use food to fuel athletic and academic success. In her role as the Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition at Indiana University, she is responsible for team and staff education, meal planning, individual nutrition counseling, and supplement safety initiatives. In her free time, Bailey enjoys being outdoors, running, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family

CathyAnn Smith

CathyAnn Smith

CathyAnn has been a teacher at James B. Conant High School for the past 26 years and head varsity softball coach for 18 of those years, which earned her a spot in the Illinois High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017. She was a student-athlete in high school and college, which has helped her be the best sponsor for the Cougar Climbs club at Conant. This club helps students understand their worth, improve their leadership skills, and build their confidence.

John Woods

John Woods, CMMA

John has been an athletic director for 18 years and is currently in his third year at Libertyville High School. He also has experience coaching track and field, basketball, volleyball, basketball, and golf. Since becoming an athletic director, John has served on many committees and has presented at state and national conferences for the Illinois Athletic Directors Association (IADA).
